This is the story of our local Angmering Park estate, here on the South Downs, coming back to life – still very much farmland, but with a rapid increase in wildlife and biodiversity. And the wild grey partridges that in 2002 had dwindled to 5 pairs are beginning to return again along with much of the farm’s traditional wildlife.

Wandering in Hilaire Belloc’s Sussex

On the South Downs at sunset

Out to wander we linger in this place to absorb the atmosphere of these lonely downs, beautiful in their open spaces in the evening light. Grand views open up across the wooded Weald towards the distant North Downs, while the sea to the South sparkles silver in the sunlight.
